In this article, you will find information to help you choose and set up your barcode scanner.
How do you choose your barcode scanner?
You can use most of the standard scanners with Stockpit, but before purchasing a scanner, make sure it is compatible with your operating system (Mac, iOS, Windows, Linux,...).
Don't forget to check that you have the appropriate port on your computer or tablet (USB or USB-C ports for example).
Depending on your suppliers, they may use different formats (1D vs. 2D), so you will want to identify their barcodes in order to get the appropriate scanner.
Depending on the way you work, you might want to consider getting a wireless or Bluetooth scanner. This could facilitate your scanning process if you need to carry the scanner with you around your warehouse.
Note: To connect your barcode scanner to Stockpit, simply plug it or pair it to your computer, as with a mouse or keyboard. A barcode scanner will fill in the selected field with what you've scanned.
Entering data by scanning your barcode
If it's your first time using a scanner, we suggest you open a ".txt" document or a note to run the first tests. This way, you will be able to get familiar with your new scanner and set it up easily without any risk.
Then, you can click on any field in a document, scan your barcode, and see the text or code generated.
Troubleshooting your barcode scanner
If your barcode scanner is not functioning properly, we recommend trying it out in another software. After that, reach out to the manufacturer of your scanner if it still doesn't function properly.
